Look it up!). It isn’t just cyclists who journey here, though. Sonoma County, voted the #1 wine destination in the U.S., holds an allure for anyone who gets a taste of our wine, beer & cuisine, glimpses the majestic beauty of our landscape, or meanders to the coast to feel the ocean breeze in their hair… As Levi says: “I’ve made a life out of riding & racing my bike all over the globe. With the entire world from which to choose, I opted for Santa Rosa.” Known as one of the top cycling destinations in the world, Santa Rosa is home to 3-time Amgen Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer, home of the US headquarters of the 2011 Tour de France winning Team BMC, & host to training camps for many elite pro-cycling teams, as well as amateur clubs & bike-passionate individuals. Like fine wine, balance is the key to Santa Rosa’s appeal. Its thriving arts and creative hub bustles like a big city with the friendly service of a small community. Numerous farmers’ markets are vibrant places for Sonoma County farmers & artisans to provide a wide selection of organic foods & specialty products nurtured out of the region’s fertile soil. Travelers appreciate Santa Rosa’s relaxed & authentic wine country experience. Our famous chefs & diverse downtown restaurant offerings make dining in Santa Rosa an affordable culinary adventure. "After 7 years of participating in the Amgen Tour of California, Santa Rosans thought our highest honor was hosting the 2012 Overall Start – an epic stage that highlighted the phenomenal beauty of Sonoma County. The question of what could match that experience was answered when AEG offered the first Northern California Overall Finish hosting honors to Santa Rosa. Just as we rolled out the wine colored carpet for the 2012 Overall Start, we will celebrate the 2013 Overall Finish with just as much joy This race provides a tremendous long-term return on investment & continues to be a powerful force on our community identity. Once again we welcome home this world class race & welcome the opportunity to showcase the premiere cycling destination that Santa Rosa & the County of Sonoma have become to so many." |

Fri 6/07 | Fighting Kids' Cancer with Lemonade 10th Annual National Lemonade, June 7-9. Hosting a fundraising lemonade stand was the inspired idea of ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott. True to the spirit of the phrase “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” Alex, at age 4, held a lemonade stand to help find a cure for all childhood cancers, including her own. Since that time, more than 20,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stands have been held across the country. While volunteers hold stands throughout the year (often setting them up indoors, in cold weather seasons), National Lemonade Days is a time when volunteers everywhere can join forces as they hold stands simultaneously across the country. National Lemonade Days is a meaningful, nationwide event that started in Alex’s front yard & has grown to front yards across America. Most importantly, National Lemonade Days raises more than $1 million for childhood cancer research 1 cup at a time! Held the weekend before Father's Day every June, this 3-day event (Friday - Sunday) is open to all who want to participate by holding their own fundraising stands or events. Gather your family, your co-workers or your friends & have fun creating your own Alex’s Lemonade Stand event. See the difference WE can make, in one weekend, together! |
