A Pair of Prescribed Burns To Be Conducted In Preparation For Fire Season

Get ready to see and smell some smoke today in the Sonoma Valley as prescribed burns continue in our area, all aimed at reducing wildfire risk.

The Press Democrat reports a 62-acre burn is happening right now at Triangle G Ranch on Viewcrest Drive, visible from Sonoma, Glen Ellen, and Petaluma. This controlled burn is helping improve our grasslands and is a key training exercise for local firefighters. If you have respiratory sensitivities, it’s a good idea to limit your exposure today.

Meanwhile, the Sonoma Valley Fire District is conducting training burns at West Agua Caliente Road and Arnold Drive. You’ll see these tonight from 5 to 9 PM and again on Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. These are vital for getting our firefighters ready for wildfire season.
