Providence Hospice workers in Sonoma County are going on strike.
About 120 workers are launching a two-day strike today. Employees are protesting Providence’s proposed joint venture with a private equity-backed hospice company. Union officials say they’re concerned the joint venture with Ohio-based Compassus will sacrifice patient care for profits while leading to larger caseloads and program cuts.
The union and Providence have also been negotiating a new labor agreement since 2023.
