A 61-year-old man was rushed to the hospital Wednesday morning after crashing his electric scooter into a pedestrian on North McDowell Boulevard.
Per the Press Democrat, Petaluma police report the man was riding on the sidewalk against traffic and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
A police volunteer witnessed the accident and provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived to treat the rider’s head injury. While the pedestrian walked away unhurt, officials are using the incident to remind the public that e-scooter injuries are surging nationwide.
Authorities urge all riders to follow California traffic laws and wear protective gear to prevent similar accidents.
