Dive Teams Recover Submerged Truck From Santa Rosa Park Pond

A week-long recovery effort at Santa Rosa’s Place to Play Park ended Sunday as crews successfully pulled a submerged truck from a local pond.

The incident began on April 19, when a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Patricia Collinsworth of Sebastopol allegedly sped through the park, struck three cars, and plunged into the water.

A heroic bystander rescued Collinsworth from the sinking truck; she was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Severe weather and poor visibility delayed the recovery until yesterday, when the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Dive Team and Fire Hazmat personnel used specialized booms to prevent oil and gas from contaminating the pond.

No other injuries were reported, and the vehicle was removed from fifteen feet of water without further incident.
