Sonoma County To Honor Unclaimed Residents At Memorial Service

Sonoma County officials are inviting the public to a memorial service this Saturday, May 2nd, to honor 59 residents who passed away this past year without family or financial means for final arrangements.

The 2 p.m. ceremony at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park in Sebastopol marks the fourth year the County has organized a dignified farewell for those whose deaths might otherwise go unnoticed.

Most of the individuals were laid to rest in the park’s Rose Garden, while the remains of four veterans were transported to a national cemetery with honors. Human Services Director Angela Struckmann says the service reflects a community commitment to ensuring no neighbor is forgotten, regardless of their circumstances in life.

The non-denominational event will feature live music and remarks from local officials, and all are welcome to attend.
