Santa Rosa Police Remind Travelers to Buckle Up and Secure Children Correcty

The Santa Rosa Police Department is launching its “Click It or Ticket” campaign from May 11th through the 31st to ensure everyone stays safe on the road.

Extra officers will be on patrol specifically looking for unbelted drivers and passengers, as well as children not properly secured in safety seats. With unrestrained child fatalities rising in California, police are emphasizing that a properly fitted seat belt or booster is your best defense in a crash.

Under state law, children under two must be in rear-facing seats, while most kids under eight require a booster. Local authorities urge you to take the extra minute to buckle up and use the “Five-Step Test” for older children.

Whether you’re heading across town or visiting family, make sure every passenger is locked in for a safe arrival.
