While ghost gun confiscations are plummeting across most of California due to stricter laws, a new national report reveals Sonoma County is bucking the trend with record-high numbers.
Per the Press Democrat, data shows the county is on pace for yet another record year of seizures, with local police heavily attributing the surge to the rise of 3D printers and lucrative illegal pipelines. Santa Rosa police alone accounted for more than 70 percent of the county’s ghost gun recoveries last year, frequently finding the untraceable weapons in the hands of minors.
Local law enforcement leaders warn that glaring legal loopholes and diminished federal enforcement resources are making it incredibly difficult to stall the underground manufacturing.
