Max Wade, the former San Rafael teenager who made national headlines in 2012 for stealing celebrity chef Guy Fieri’s Lamborghini and committing a drive-by shooting, has lost his bid for early prison release.
The Marin Independent Journal reports now 32, Wade was granted parole last year after serving over a decade at San Quentin prison.
However, commissioners revoked that decision this week after a prison guard caught Wade carrying a contraband cellphone tucked into his waistband.
While Wade’s defense attorney argued he was being set up by prison staff, prosecutors successfully argued the violation showed he continues to slide into risky, rule-breaking behavior.
Wade—who has earned college degrees while behind bars—remains locked up, but he will have another opportunity to seek parole at a tentative hearing scheduled for January.
