Shelter-in-Place Lifted After Police Activity Near Petaluma

Residents just outside Petaluma city limits spent several hours sheltering in place Tuesday as deputies investigated reports of potential threats.

Per the Press Democrat, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office issued the alert just before 5:00 p.m. for the area near Kuck Lane and Monte Vista Lane, advising neighbors to lock all doors and windows.

While witnesses reported a heavy law enforcement presence and numerous police vehicles, officials clarified they were not in an active standoff with any suspects. Investigators spent the evening assessing the situation and searching the neighborhood before the order was eventually lifted.

No injuries were reported, and the specific nature of the threats remains under investigation.
