Santa Rosa City Schools trustees are meeting behind closed doors today to interview candidates for the district’s open superintendent position.
The Press Democrat reports the board is looking at a pool of five applicants to permanently replace former chief Daisy Morales, who was ousted last year following a sweeping employee vote of no confidence.
Trustees hope to narrow the field down to two finalists by this afternoon, kickstarting contract negotiations ahead of a tentative July 1st start date. Whoever lands the job will take the reins of Sonoma County’s largest school district during a turbulent era.
The incoming leader will be tasked with steering 17 campuses through ongoing financial challenges, sliding enrollment numbers, and deep budget cuts that have shaken union confidence.
