Crypto Billionaires Target Local Assembly Candidate In Misleading Ads

A tech-backed super PAC is pouring over half a million dollars into hard-hitting attack ads targeting Rohnert Park City Councilmember Jackie Elward in her campaign for State Assembly District 12.

The Press Democrat reports the political committee, Grow California, was founded by a pair of crypto billionaires aiming to counter union influence and shape a more business-friendly state legislature. Local political analysts and Elward herself have slammed the commercial—which has flooded TV and streaming platforms—as highly misleading for blaming her for high gas prices and manipulating local water rate votes out of context.

Elward remains defiant, stating that the deep-pocketed outsiders are simply trying to scare voters because they cannot honestly challenge her progressive track record on housing, homelessness, and clean energy.
