Local small business resource website Hello Alice has filed a motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit claiming racial discrimination. Hello Alice, in conjunction with Progressive Insurance Company offered grants to 10-black owned small businesses, but a white trucking company owner in Ohio claimed racial discrimination. The motion, among other things, claims that any race-based consideration was unlawful because the grant program was “a promise to make a gift” and did not become a contract… and that Roberts did not disclose if his business even met any other requirements outlined in applying for the grants.
