US Department of the Interior Approves 68 Acres of Land For Shiloh Resort & Casino

The Biden Administration is approving the Koi Nation’s plans to build a major resort-casino near Windsor.

That’s despite resistance from neighboring tribes and several politicians in Northern California. For more than three years, the plans have been strongly opposed by residents of the Shiloh neighborhood, elected officials from the Windsor Town Council to the governor’s office, and a powerful coalition of local gaming tribes.
On Monday, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced it will take 68 acres of land into trust for the development of the Shiloh Resort and Casino.

It would be Sonoma County’s third tribal casino.

However, the proposed site of the Koi Nation’s Shiloh Resort and Casino is in a wildfire risk zone.

CalFire rates the hills just east of the property as a moderate fire hazard severity zone. A pocket of high severity is about two-and-a-half miles away. The 2017 Tubbs Fire and 2019 Kincade Fire each came within a half-mile of the proposed casino site.

Some residents say they are concerned about evacuations from and near the property in the event of a wildfire.
