Marin County is purchasing some land to provide housing for evicted farmworkers.
County supervisors say they plan to buy a nearly 40-thousand-square-foot plot of land in Point Reyes Station from the Community Land Trust Association of West Marin. The one-point-one-million-dollar purchase will go toward creating housing for individuals evicted from ranches in the Point Reyes National Seashore or other substandard housing.
Several historic ranches in the area are being forced to close by early next year due to a settlement with environmental groups.
