An update on a tragic incident that unfolded in Santa Rosa last Wednesday, June 11th, when Santa Rosa Police responded to reports of a possible domestic violence incident at an apartment on Atlanta Court. Upon arrival, officers couldn’t make contact with anyone inside, and neighbors reported hearing gunshots earlier.
Due to the urgent situation, the Santa Rosa Police SWAT team entered the apartment and, around 4:30 PM, discovered two deceased individuals: 24-year-old Emily Hemming and 24-year-old Vicente Carrillo-Cedillo.
Investigators believe Carrillo-Cedillo died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting Hemming multiple times with an assault rifle. The couple was in a dating relationship and lived together. Authorities found multiple firearms registered to Carrillo-Cedillo at the scene.
Police confirm there were no prior documented reports of domestic violence involving either individual. This marks Santa Rosa’s eighth homicide and second murder-suicide of 2025.
