Sonoma County Supervisors Approve Funding Increase For Mobile Crisis Units

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has approved almost $6 million to continue funding for mobile crisis units through mid-2026.

This is a 61% increase in funding, sourced from Measure O, the sales tax voters approved in 2020. These crucial teams—like Santa Rosa’s inRESPONSE and the SAFE team serving Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park, and Sonoma State—send mental health professionals to emergencies, often instead of police.

Officials say the move ensures continued “compassionate, non-law enforcement response” for those in crisis.
