Six Sonoma County fire agencies are searching for new health insurance coverage for their employees and retirees.
In June, Fire Risk Management Services decided not to renew its existing medical benefits plan for 2026. The current plan expires at the end of this year. Fire Risk Management Services blames the decision on higher-than-anticipated premiums for the coming year. About 40 fire districts across the state are impacted.
Affected agencies are already running out of time to find a new provider, with open enrollment starting on October 1st.
