Commuters returning from Labor Day weekend encountered new and longer carpool lane hours on US-101 in Sonoma County.
The Marin-Sonoma Narrows now has HOV lane hours from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., up from the previous 7-9 a.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. schedule. Caltrans updated electronic and permanent signs to alert drivers, though some temporary signs still show old hours.
The change comes after completion of the Petaluma Widening Project, creating 30-mile carpool lanes in each direction from the Marin-Sonoma border to downtown Windsor.
