The Sonoma County Fire District, the largest ambulance operator in the county, is expected to receive a 2.4% increase to its ambulance rates.
The Press Democrat reports the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is set to consider the rate hike on Tuesday. This is a much smaller increase than the 24% the district had originally requested earlier this year.
According to fire officials, the smaller increase is a temporary measure, with another request for a larger increase to come after the completion of a financial study. The district took over the county’s ambulance contract in 2024. The 2.4% rate increase is tied to inflation and is considered a routine part of the contract.
The contract states that any future rate increase requests will be reviewed by the county.
