Petaluma High Schools Roll Out New Bell Schedule

Students at Petaluma and Casa Grande high schools are adapting to a new daily schedule this school year. The district has shifted from a six-period rotating schedule to a new seven-period day, which officials say will increase opportunities and equity for all students.

The Press Democrat reports the new system includes a fixed weekly schedule with classes starting at 8:30 a.m. each day. Wednesdays and Fridays also feature a new “advisory” period to give students additional support.

According to school leaders, this new schedule allows students who need academic help, such as multilingual learners or students with disabilities, to take elective courses without missing core subjects. The district hopes this change will better prepare students for their future careers and college education.
