Dozens of low-income residents in Sebastopol’s Woodmark Apartments face displacement due to a developer’s failure to file a federal waiver.
The Press Democrat reports the apartments were strictly reserved for farmworkers, but non-farmworker residents were allowed to move in. Now, they’ve been suddenly told to leave, with offers of up to $10,000 to vacate.
The Sebastopol City Council has voted to have its attorney research legal options, such as a just-cause eviction ordinance, to try and help the residents who are now facing an uncertain future.
