The Santa Rosa Police Department is highlighting National Teen Driver Safety Week by urging parents and caregivers to discuss safe driving habits with their teens.
Car crashes are a leading cause of death for teens, with over 2,600 people killed nationally in crashes involving a teen driver in 2023. Parents are reminded to emphasize the dangers of: speeding, texting while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and not wearing a seat belt.
Be a role model, set firm rules, and review California’s provisional licensing laws to help teens make better choices on the road.
