Feds Allegedly Pressured Sheriff Engram To Cooperate With ICE

Federal immigration agents recently pressured Sonoma County Sheriff Eddie Engram to increase his department’s cooperation with ICE by easing restrictions on sharing detainee information.

The Press Democrat reports Sheriff Engram rejected the demand, affirming his office’s policy to limit information sharing to state-mandated serious felony cases.

Supervisors Chair Lynda Hopkins, who was present, stated that ICE officials acknowledged being under pressure to meet deportation targets set by the Trump administration. Immigration advocates remain alarmed by the meeting and continue to push for a full sanctuary ordinance in the county.
