A Sonoma County jury has begun deliberations in the high-profile case of animal activist Zoe Rosenberg.
According to the Press Democrat, the 23-year-old is accused of felony conspiracy and misdemeanors after trespassing and taking four chickens from Petaluma Poultry in 2023.
The three-week trial focused on Rosenberg’s intent. Prosecutors argue her actions were a publicity stunt for her group, Direct Action Everywhere. The defense maintains she acted out of genuine compassion for the animals.
Rosenberg faces a possible sentence of up to five years in jail if convicted. The verdict will be closely watched by the local agricultural community.
