The City of Sonoma has released its draft Land Use element for the 2045 General Plan, guiding development for the next 20 years.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, a major controversy centers on the 20-acre Sebastiani Winery property. Owners want to rezone it from agricultural use to mixed-use, opening the door for commercial projects like a hotel.
Residents are fighting the change, citing fears of traffic, noise, and loss of agricultural heritage.
The draft plan is open for public comment until February 2nd. Additionally, a public meeting specifically on the Sebastiani proposal will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, at 6 p.m. at Vintage House.
