SVHS Used VR Tour Of Auschwitz Memorial For Students On Holocaust Remembrance Day

Hundreds of students at Sonoma Valley High marked Holocaust Remembrance Day yesterday by taking a powerful virtual reality tour of the Auschwitz memorial.

The Sonoma Index Tribune reports using VR headsets, about 300 sophomores were able to “walk” through the concentration camp while learning about the 1.1 million people who lost their lives there during World War II.

Local educators and the Sonoma Valley Chabad Jewish Center organized the event, hoping that using advanced technology will help the next generation better understand the history of the Holocaust and the importance of preventing future genocides.
