Petaluma Education Leaders Preparing For Tough Budget Cuts Vote

Petaluma school leaders are preparing for a tough vote on February 10th as they look to slash over $6 million from next year’s budget to close a looming deficit.

The Petaluma Argus-Courier reports the proposed cuts would eliminate a school nurse, several library assistants, and maintenance staff, while potentially restructuring alternative education and reducing high school art supplies.

While some positions—like certain music teachers and reading specialists—were spared in the latest draft, community members are still pushing to save vital student advisors and coordinators before the board makes its final decision next Tuesday.
