The downfall of real estate mogul Ken Mattson reached a quiet climax recently as several of his former Sonoma County properties hit the auction block in a Santa Rosa park.
Per the Press Democrat, once valued at over $500 million, the embattled developer’s empire is being liquidated piece-by-piece following federal fraud charges and a massive bankruptcy.
With no outside bidders stepping up at the public sale, several prime commercial and residential spots—including part of the Mercato near the Sonoma Plaza—were handed back to the lenders to be sold off.
