Skilled trade workers at Sonoma State and across the CSU system are off the job today as they launch a four-day strike over a wage dispute.
Teamsters Local 2010, representing about eleven-hundred electricians, plumbers, and mechanics, says the university system is reneging on a 2024 agreement for five-percent raises and step increases. Union leaders argue that the CSU has the funds available, pointing to a 144-million-dollar state loan.
However, CSU officials cite tight budget constraints and have countered with a proposal for one-time raises instead.
Picketers are expected to remain at Sonoma State through Thursday.
