A 45-year-old Santa Rosa man is in custody today following a brutal attack that left a woman dead in a mobile home off Taylor Avenue.
Per the Press Democrat, witnesses reported seeing William Rufner fleeing the scene covered in blood Wednesday night, sparking a nine-hour manhunt that ended Thursday morning.
Deputies eventually discovered Rufner hiding inside a water tanker truck and arrested him without incident. Investigators say the victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was in a prior dating relationship with the suspect.
Rufner is currently being held without bail at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of murder.
