The North Bay is sweltering under a historic mid-march heat wave as Santa Rosa set a new all-time monthly record of 92 degrees this Thursday.
According to the Press Democrat, this record-breaking surge narrowly topped the previous monthly high set just two years ago, while also obliterating the city’s daily record for March 19th by nearly ten degrees.
Napa also joined the record books, eclipsing a century-old daily high from 1914 by reaching 88 degrees. The unseasonal heat peaked just as the spring equinox arrived, marking the second consecutive day of record-shattering temperatures across the region.
Fortunately, relief is on the horizon, with the National Weather Service forecasting a cooling trend into the 80s starting this weekend.
