Sonoma County Panel to Tackle Challenges Facing Aging Women

The Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women is hosting a vital community conversation this Thursday focused on the unique hurdles facing women as they age.

Per the Sonoma Index-Tribune, titled “Women, Longevity & Equity,” the panel will feature experts from the Council on Aging and the California Retired Americans Alliance to discuss income security, healthcare access, and housing. Organizers say the goal is to highlight pathways for support while giving local women a platform to voice their concerns directly to policymakers.

This session is the fourth in a series of town halls that have previously tackled issues like homelessness and the lasting emotional impacts of the pandemic. Information gathered from the event will be compiled into a formal report for the Board of Supervisors this summer.

The discussion kicks off at 6:00 p.m. at the county administration building in Santa Rosa, with a virtual option available for those who can’t attend in person.
