Dean Biersch, co-founder of Gordon Biersch Brewing and owner of HopMonk Taverns, is looking for a new owner-operator for the Twin Oaks Roadhouse. Acquired a decade ago, this classic California roadhouse at 5745 Old Redwood Highway is being offered for $425,000.
The Press Democrat reports the sale includes the operating business and liquor license, but not the property itself. The current lease expires at the end of the year, so the new owner will need to negotiate directly with the landlord.
Biersch describes the Twin Oaks, built in 1924, as a unique, original California roadhouse, noting its high ceilings, fireplace, and a beer garden expanded during the pandemic to 1,700 square feet. While it hosts shows for up to 175 people, Biersch is shifting focus to larger venues like HopMonk Novato, which can accommodate 600 attendees, and expanding his mobile food operations with two food trucks and two trailers. These mobile units already contribute significantly to his revenue, sometimes bringing in as much as a quarter of tavern receipts.
The Twin Oaks Roadhouse, which seats 54 inside and 80 outside, currently employs four full-time and seven part-time staff. Since purchasing it in late 2015, Biersch has overseen renovations including restoring the neon sign, adding air conditioning, and installing an 18-tap draft beer system.
