PG&E’s planned reduction in water flow from Lake Pillsbury has sparked frustration among Potter Valley farmers and ranchers, who say the change was made without proper communication.
The Press Democrat reports the utility says the dip in water pressure, which occurred on Tuesday, August 5, was expected and part of an annual request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to manage water levels for fish protection.
PG&E maintains that the water variance was expected by stakeholders, while local water users say the utility failed to provide a necessary heads-up, causing irrigation systems to fail and leaving livestock without water.
