Three SRJC Volleyball Players File Federal Complaint Against The School

Three Santa Rosa Junior College volleyball players have filed a federal complaint against the school. The Press Democrat reports the complaint, sent to the U.S. Department of Education, alleges the college and the California Community College Athletic Association violated Title IX by allowing a transgender athlete on the women’s team.

The players, Madison and Gracie Shaw and Brielle Galli, claim they were physically endangered by the teammate and that their head coach, Ally Sather, retaliated against them after they raised concerns. According to the complaint, the players were benched after speaking up.

Two of the athletes, Madison and Gracie Shaw, have since stepped away from the team. Brielle Galli has returned but is playing “under protest.” The complaint is not a lawsuit, but it asks the Office of Civil Rights to launch an investigation.
