A surfer avoids injury after being attacked by a shark Monday morning at Dillon Beach.
Officials say the incident occurred around 9 or 10 a.m. near the mouth of Tomales Bay, a known shark habitat. The attack damaged the surfer’s board, which investigators from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife swabbed for DNA to help identify the shark species.
Shark activity has also been linked to the disappearance of 55-year-old triathlete Erica Fox at Lovers Point in Monterey, where a shark was spotted in the area she was swimming.
