Rohnert Park is temporarily pulling its only school resource officer, Debbie Lamaison, from local campuses to help fill gaps in city patrol.
The Press Democrat reports Public Safety Director Tim Mattos says the move is a necessary “rob Peter to pay Paul” situation driven by department-wide staffing shortages and medical leaves.
Officer Lamaison, a celebrated “Public Safety Hero” known for her deep connection with the district’s Spanish-speaking families, will return to patrol on January 26. While the school district assures parents that safety remains a priority, the city says the reassignment will last at least through the end of the school year until recruitment catches up.
