A Sonoma County Jury has awarded 3 children $25 million in damages for enduring abuse by the man who was fostering them and the agency who placed them there. Mark Zapata Martinez will spend 15 years to life in prison and is responsible for $6 million in damages, Alternative Family Services, who placed the children with him was ordered to pay $18 million. The children ranged in age from 2 to 7 years old at the time of the abuse.
An attorney for Alternative Family Services says he will appeal the verdict.
