Lodging Tax Fails

Last week we told you about an upcoming vote by Sonoma County Supervisors over placing an update to the county’s transient occupancy tax, or lodging tax, on the November ballot. That vote failed on Tuesday, twice, as new wording in the measure was unclear on who would be included in a new tax rate. This means the measure will not appear on the ballot, as there is not enough time to revisit the issue prior to the August 9th deadline. Supervisors did vote to put the Bay Area Housing for All measure on the ballot, it is a property tax increase for all 9 bay area counties that could bring in $20 billion dollars.
