RP Fires

A fire at a strip mall on Commerce Blvd in Rohnert Park caused an estimated $1 million dollars in damage Monday night. It started when a burglar alarm sounded at one of the 5 businesses in the mall, police arrived to see a roll up door open, and a van fully engulfed in flames. From there four different engine companies spent an hour putting out the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
Meanwhile a second fire was started the same night by vandals at the snack bar at the Benicia Park baseball fields. Several locks were cut and hundreds of dollars of merchandise including candy, soda, chips, keys, and other miscellaneous food items were stolen.
The fire caused about $75,000 in damage to the snack bar and is still under investigation.
