Ukiah To Remove Much-Criticized Map From City Website

Ukiah City Council member Mari Rodin has suggested removing the current, much-criticized map from the city’s website. According to the Press Democrat, this comes after city officials met with county supervisors to discuss reducing the scope of the initial plan.

The city’s original map, which essentially showed Ukiah tripling in size, drew widespread public outcry. Mayor Doug Crane even called it “a big messed up” in hindsight.

City Manager Sage Sangiacomo confirmed the city is committed to engaging with the community and stakeholders to define a new path forward. While no formal proposal has been submitted yet, the city says the map will change, and they plan to bring a new version soon.

County supervisors will also provide regular updates on the ongoing discussions.
