The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has approved a minor change to eviction protection rules.
It will allow the board to more narrowly apply eviction protections after the county proclaims an emergency. In February, the board found out that its “just cause” tenant protections ordinance only allowed a countywide eviction moratorium during declared emergencies.
At the time, the board was trying to issue a short-term eviction ban for communities along the lower Russian River affected by a winter storm that led to flooding and damage.
