Penngrove residents are demanding safer roads. The Press Democrat reports at a town hall meeting, over 200 people raised alarms about speeding and dangerous crashes, pushing for a solution to the ongoing traffic issues.
The county presented a plan to build two roundabouts on Old Redwood Highway at Railroad Avenue and Ely Road. Officials say the roundabouts will be much safer than current intersections, pointing to a study that recorded over 450 collisions in Penngrove in just five years, with multiple fatalities.
Construction on the $9 million projects is slated for 2027. Residents also used the meeting to request more California Highway Patrol enforcement to combat dangerous driving and illegal street stunts.
