The California League of Women Voters is denouncing a quote on a mailer sent to voters in Sonoma Valley.
Residents started seeing the flyer in their mailboxes earlier this month. It opposes Governor Gavin Newsom’s congressional redistricting ballot measure. It was created by the right-leaning group Protect Voters First and includes a quote from League of Women Voters President Gloria Chun Hoo.
The league says the quote is being improperly used to imply the two groups have formed a coalition against the redistricting effort. The League says it did not authorize the use of its name or its statements by Protect Voters First.
