The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has just approved $5 million in funding to fight the opioid crisis.
The money, sourced from national settlements, will be distributed to three local organizations. Buckelew Recovery Residences will receive the bulk of the funding—nearly $3.9 million—to create 68 new recovery housing beds. West County Health Centers will get over $600,000 for harm reduction programs, and the Drug Abuse Alternatives Center will use nearly $500,000 to expand its mobile treatment services.
The funding is a direct response to a local crisis that sees an average of 12 overdose deaths per month.
