The owners of The Ruse, a luxury bed and breakfast in Healdsburg, are now proposing to turn the property into a high-end substance abuse treatment facility.
According to the Press Democrat, this comes after their previous plan to open a private recreation and swim club was denied by the city. The new proposal is for a 13-bed “resort-style” rehab center, targeting an “elite clientele” with a holistic, non-12-step program. The facility would offer services like medically supervised detox, gourmet dining, and what they call “golf therapy.”
The Healdsburg Planning Commission is set to consider the conditional use permit this week, with city staff recommending its approval. The plan is facing some criticism from neighbors and a local person in recovery who question its “posh” approach.
