Petaluma’s largest open space project is getting a major boost from the state.
According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, State Senator Mike McGuire announced on Tuesday that the Petaluma River Park is set to receive $2 million in state funding.
The money, secured in the 2025-26 state budget, will support the first phase of the ambitious project, which aims to transform 24 acres of the McNear Peninsula into a vibrant community space with playing fields, pathways, and playgrounds.
The funding will also help restore river banks and wetlands habitat along the Petaluma River.
