The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, October 14th, at 4:30 p.m. to prepare the community for major federal budget impacts.
County officials say recent executive orders, grant changes, and the bill H.R. 1 will lead to “draconian budget cuts” and significantly affect local services. Supervisor Lynda Hopkins emphasized the need to “take stock of all of the impacts” and develop a mitigation plan.
The meeting will detail anticipated cuts to safety net services like Medicaid, nutrition, and housing programs, and review impacts on education, immigration, and non-profits.
