Defense Testifies In Animal Activist Case

Animal activist Zoe Rosenberg took the stand to defend herself against criminal charges stemming from break-ins at Petaluma Poultry last spring.

Per the Press Democrat, Rosenberg is accused of trespassing and theft for removing four chickens from the facility. She testified that she was investigating animal cruelty, and her actions were an “open rescue,” not part of a criminal conspiracy. She denied allegations that she tampered with company computers.

The activist, who faces up to five years in jail if convicted, stated she was simply trying to get the chickens the care they needed.

Testimony in the Sonoma County Superior Court trial resumes today.
